Archives Notes
- Fr. Rob is the 2003 recipient of the Br. Denis Sennett Award given by the Archivists of Religious Institutes. Br. Sennett, who died on November 17, 2000, was a Franciscan Friar of the Atonement and a leading force in promoting professional standards for religious archives. Fr. Rob will use the $500 award to help pay for his attendance at the July 7-18, 2003 Religious Archives Institute sponsored by The American Catholic History Research Center & University Archives, at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.
- On April 26, 2003 Fr. Rob presented the paper “From Times Square to the Public Square. Father Francis Patrick Duffy to Dr. Scott Hahn: How the Bible became Catholic in the Twentieth Century.” This was at the New England American Studies Association Meeting, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Hartford, Connecticut.
- On May 5, 2003 Fr. Rob facilitated a discussion with Bonnie Gurewitsch who is on the staff of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in lower Manhattan, New York City. Sponsored by the Archivists of Religious Institutes, the purpose of the discussion- workshop was to help archivists gain a greater understanding as to the process of creating and presenting a religious archives exhibit for the public.
- On June 20, 2003 Fr. Rob attended a meeting of the New Jersey Catholic History Records Commission at the Chancery office of the Archdiocese of Newark, New Jersey. He is a board member of the Commission and serves on the publications committee. A future plan of that committee is to publish a series of scholarly articles on New Jersey Catholic history.
