Born Jacob Boniface on May 2, 1867 in Big Spring, Ohio, he professed his vows as a brother on August 15, 1901. He got to know the Passionists, it appears, when he lived at St. Paul, Kansas. He appears to have worked in a bakery in town. A great portion of his life as a brother was working in the kitchen of various monasteries. He died at the Providence Retreat, Buffalo, New York where he had lived for ten years due to depression and physical problems.
