Born Michael Mannion in Dublin, Ireland on September 27, 1824 he grew up in Ireland. He immigrated to the United States and was fortunate to earn a great deal of money. Brother Mannion was the fourth lay-brother to enter the Passionists in the United States. He gave his money to the poor. He professed his vows on May 23, 1860 and was given the name Mark.
He performed numerous tasks in Passionist monasteries. Overtime, his quick Irish temper mellowed and he performed the various assignments successfully. In later years he was beset by heart trouble. He died in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 2, 1894. He had been transferred there before his health began to decline.
