Born June 29, 1815 in Cloghelen, Tipperary, Ireland, he was the son of Thomas Buckley and Anna Hancock. He professed his religious vows on January 10, 1864 as a Passionist brother. He was a capable worker of iron grill work and did much of the building for the windows at the monastery and the dome of the old church in West Hoboken, New Jersey. In December 1888 he had a severe attack of jaundice and recovered only partially. He then suffered a stroke. After several months of illness he died and was buried in the monastery vault.
