Born Patrick H. Murray on June 1, 1890 in Mitcheltown, Ireland, he migrated to Canada and then to the United States before he was employed as a truck gardener in Massachusetts. He was professed on August 15, 1925 and assigned to farm work at Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. However, it became after some time it was determined that he suffered from mental illness. For a short time he was hospitalized and then returned to community life. While living at St. Michael’s Monastery, Union City, New Jersey he contracted pneumonia from which he died.
