Born Andrew Limmer on January 3, 1892 in Saginaw, Michigan, he entered the Passionist Preparatory School at St. Paul. Kansas in December 1907. The following June 1908 he was sent to the novitiate at Louisville, Kentucky. He professed his Passionist vows on July 23, 1909. His religious name was Louis. Suffering from tuberculosis since December 1910, his parents were insistent that he return to his home town of Saginaw to perhaps help him get better. However, after he left Normandy, Missouri where he was stationed and returned home he did not improve. After he died in Saginaw, his body was returned to Normandy for burial.
