Born Walter L. Boylan on August 10, 1907 in Boston, Massachusetts, he learned of the Passionists through the laymen retreat house, St. Gabriel’s Monastery, Brighton, Massachusetts. In 1927 he went to Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. He professed his vows on August 15, 1930. His religious name was Luke. He studied in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1931 he was transferred to Brighton. He died at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton as a result of acute appendicitis.
