Born James McMannon on March 28, 1859 in Graften,West Virginia, he was the son of Peter and Jane McMann. He was professed on September 22, 1875 and was sent for studies in Rome. He sailed on August 12, 1878. Upon arrival he showed signs of tuberculosis. He was sent to a better climate in Italy with the hope that his health would improve. However it grew worse. He was then sent to the Passionist house in Paris, France where he died.
