Born Edward Farrell on November 24, 1883 in Waterviet, New York, he was the son of Charles Farrell and Delia Mullin. He went to the local Catholic school and then on to St. Francis College run by the Jesuits in New York City. He eventually entered the Passionist novitiate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and professed his vows on March 24, 1911. His religious name was Ambrose. He was ordained on May 30, 1917 by Bishop Paul Joseph Nussbaum, C.P. He was a preacher of parish missions. In the summer of 1921 he was assigned to St. Mary’s Parish, Dunkirk, New York as an assistant pastor. Because he had shown signs of failing health, the superior sent him to West Hoboken, New Jersey to rest. While visiting his sister in Brooklyn, New York he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died.
