Born John Lane on August 31, 1923 in Lancanshire, England, he professed his vows on October 30,1941 and received the religious name Andrew. He was ordained on April 28, 1947 and began working as a preacher throughout England. Later he was a professor in the minor seminary of the Passionists in England for sixteen years. Then he served fourteen years as retreat director, local superior and provincial consultor in the English province. In 1984 Father Lane came to work in Holy Cross Province and was a member of the retreat house staffs in Detroit, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri.
In Detroit he did extensive work in the marriage encounter. In 1996 he was made director of Daneo Hall, Chicago, Illinois and died suddenly of a heart attack.
