Born Joepsh V. Lacomara on May 28, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Joseph Lacomara and Ethel Lamaire. He attended Brooklyn Catholic schools and half way through his high school years transferred to Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. He professed his vows on August 15, 1939 and received the religious name Anslem. During student life he exhibited a fine mind. Ordained on April 29, 1946 by Archbishop Thomas J. Walsh, he completed sacred eloquence in Baltimore, Maryland. At this time he volunteered for the mission in China. Accepted he was sent with the 1948 group but the Communist takeover or “liberation” caused him to return to the United States. He began to preach missions at which he was quite successful. Transferred to West Springfield, he died of a sudden heart attack. His brother is Father Aelred Lacomara, C.P.
