Born September 17, 1901. Professed September 15, 1925. Through student life in Dunkirk, New York he was an excellent athlete. Ordained February 8, 1931, his class had thirty priests ordained. After Sacred Eloquence he was assigned to be Vice-Master at the new novitiate house in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He was Director of Students for six years at Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk. He also served as a Vicar, two terms as a Rector, and another assignment as Vicar. Father Cavanaugh was a respected community man.
