Born Edward Burke on December 10, 1911 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he was the son of James Burke and Catherine Casey. He professed his Passionist vows on August 15, 1933 and was given the name Brian. He was ordained on April 23, 1940. From 1941 to 1944 he was Director of Students. From 1944 to 1960 he was a parish priest at Immaculate Conception Passionist parish in Jamaica, New York From July to November 1960 he served on the Mission Band at St. Paul Monastery, Pittsburgh. From 1960 to 1962 he was Vice-Rector at St. Mary’s Monastery, Dunkirk, New York and then Rector there from 1962 to 1965. He then was Rector at St. Gabriel’s Retreat on Shelter Island, New York. From 1968 to 1969 he lived in the Jamaica, New York community. From 1969 to 1971 he was Econome at Holy Family Monastery, West Hartford, Connecticut and then from 1971 to 1974 was Vice-Rector. From 1974 to 1976 he was back at Jamaica, New York as Econome and then Vice-Rector from 1976 to 1978. He served again as Econome at Jamaica from 1978 to 1984. After serving as a member of the Pittsburgh community at St. Paul’s Manor in 1984 he died on September 29, 1984 in Pittsburgh.
