Born January 25, 1902, he attended elementary and high school at St. James in the Boston, Massachusetts area. After two years at Boston College he entered the Passionists. He professed his vows on September 20, 1921 and was ordained on March 12, 1927. First he was a professor at Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. For five years he was in that position and also prefect of studies. In 1932 he came to Brighton, Massachusetts to become vicar and later rector. After one term he was elected rector of Jamaica, New York. At thirty-nine, in 1941, he was elected provincial and held the post until 1947. For the next fourteen years he was rector of Holy Cross, Dunkirk, provincial consultor, and pastor in Baltimore, Maryland. The following sixteen years he was at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; West Hartford, Connecticut; West Springfield, Massachusetts; and for the last ten years at the Shrewsbury, Massachusetts Nursing Home.
