Born Walter Sullivan on July 9, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts he attended Boston College. He professed his vows on August 28, 1915. He was ordained on December 18, 1920. He joined the Passionists to be a missionary but was asked to be a teacher. He taught aspiring Passionists at the Preparatory Seminary for ten years. Then he became Director of Students and Master of Novices. Throughout he life he suffered from tuberculosis and cancer.
