Born John Leahy on December 15, 1895, he was the son of John and Agnes Leahy, Cambridge, Massachusetts. After graduating from the local grade school he attended Boston College High School. In the fall of 1913 he entered the Passionist Preparatory Seminary, Baltimore, Maryland. He professed his vows on April 5, 1915. He was ordained on January 21, 1923. Sacred eloquence was spent at West Hoboken, New Jersey. From 1924 until 1926 he was assistant pastor at St. Joseph’s Parish, Union City, New Jersey. Two years followed working on the St.Ann’s devotions, Scranton, Pennsylvania. He returned to Union City in 1928. In 1929 he was asked to be a professor at the Preparatory Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. In 1930 he became assistant pastor at St, Joseph’s Monastery Parish, Baltimore. From 1932 until 1950 he was a member of the Passionist community, Jamaica, New York. In 1950 he moved to Brighton, Massachusetts where he remained until his death.
