Born March 26, 1898, he was the son of Arthur and Mary Halfpenny. Arthur Halfpenny was for many years the president of St. Michael’s Monastery Holy Name Society and a leader of the Knights of Columbus in North Hudson, New Jersey. Upon graduation from St. Michael’s grammar school in August 1912 the young Charles entered the Passionists. He professed his vows on August 15, 1915 and was ordained a priest on December 17, 1921. He was assigned to St. Gabriel’s, Brighton, Massachusetts and for many years he served at St. Michael’s Monastery, Union City where he was for some time assigned as secretary to the provincial of St. Paul of the Cross Province. He died of a heart attach on January 9. His health had been failing for some time.
