Born Edward McGuire on November 15, 1872 in New York, he attended the Passionist Preparatory Seminary, St. Mary’s, Dunkirk, New York. He professed his vows in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 7, 1889. His ordination was deferred for a time until he reached the necessary age. He ministered in the Passionist communities of Holy Cross Retreat, Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Paul, Kansas; and Sacred Heart Retreat, Louisville, Kentucky. He was a religious superior for one term. He died in Louisville where he was assigned as the acting pastor.
