Born Hugo Kuba on April 25, 1913 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of John Hugo and Anna Weberbauer. He attended St. Cyril and Methodius School in Bridgeport. Upon graduation in 1927 he went to the Passionist Preparatory Seminary, Dunkirk, New York for six years. He professed his vows on August 15, 1934 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He was ordained May 1, 1941 and went to study Slovak at the Benedictine Abbey of St. Andrew, Cleveland, Ohio. He was a preacher of Slovak missions and had permission to celebrate the liturgy in the Byzantine ritual. In his last years he had the book The Eucharistic Miracle of Luciano translated from Italian to English He helped establish the Confraternity of Catholic Clergy which was committed to the Pope and orthodoxy of the Catholic Church. He died from a year-long illness of cancer.
