Born September 13, 1839 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Nicholas Lang and Mary Best. At eighteen he entered the Passionists and professed his vows on September 6, 1857. He was ordained a priest on September 7, 1862 at St. Mary’s Monastery Church, Dunkirk, New York by Bishop John Timon of Buffalo, New York. His first assignment was to care for the German speaking Catholics in Dunkirk. In 1866 he was appointed pastor of St. Michael’s Church, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in 1875 was assigned to be pastor at Immaculata Church, and vice-rector of Holy Cross Retreat Cincinnati, Ohio. When Father Timothy resigned as rector there Father Lang succeeded him on January 7, 1882. In 1884 the provincial chapter elected him rector of Holy Cross. In 1887 and 1890 he was elected to be Master of Novices. He died during the end of his second term. He was respected as a confessor. His twin brother was Father Charles Lang, C.P.
