Born February 4, 1920, he professed his vows on July 16, 1941 and was ordained June 28, 1947. He served as a professor of sacred theology and church history in the Passionist Seminary. His twin brother was Passionist Father Noel Pechulis. Father John Baptist Pechulis was sent to study at the Angelicum. He returned in 1951 to begin his ministry as a professor. This concluded after five years after which he was assigned to Sierra Madre, California where he served for a short time as chaplain for the Maryknoll Sisters. He then went on to Louisville, Kentucy and Detroit, Michigan and finally back to Chicago, Illinois. In his final years he suffered from poor health. He was plagued by a weakness in his lungs that first afflicted him in Rome when he went there for studies.
