Born J. Edward Mead May 26, 1919 in Waltham, Massachusetts, he went to Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York where his nickname was bishop. He professed his vows on August 15, 1939. His religious name was Jude. He was ordained on April 29, 1946. He was a preacher of parish missions and retreats especially to religious men and women. He was a devoted son of St. Paul of the Cross and wrote on his spirituality. He wrote a biography of Mother Angeline, O.Carm which was entitled Servant of God. He had a doctorate in sacred theology from the Teresianum in Rome. Father Mead was rotund and at the same time gracious in his presence. He died of a heart attack. He also authored various articles in religious periodicals.
