Born Paul Frederick Rottloff on April 28, 1922 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Adolph Rottloff and Marie Wright. He professed his Passionist vows on August 15, 1944. His religious name was Linus. He was ordained on February 27, 1951 at St. Michael’s Church, Union City, New Jersey by Bishop McNulty. He was chosen for graduate studies at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. and eventually became a professor at Holy Cross Seminary, Dunkirk, New York where he taught from 1954 until 1963. He then taught at Holy Family Seminary, West Hartford, Connecticut from 1963 until 1968. His area was science. In 1968 he joined the Holy Family Retreat House staff at West Hartford. In 1983 he retired from that position and was a preacher of retreats and missions and by 1988 was assisting in various parishes. In 1993 his health began to fail.
