Born Arthur Farrell on February 26, 1897 of Dayton Kentucky, he attended Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. He professed his vows on August 20, 1918. He was ordained a priest on December 22, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a professor at the Passionist seminary in Normandy, Missouri from 1925 until 1928. From 1928 until 1941 he was hospital chaplain at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Father Farrell was rector of St. Paul’s Monastery, Detroit, Michigan from 1941 until 1944. In 1963 he became a member of the Sierra Madre, California community.
