Born March 5, 1926 he was educated at Bishop Loughlin High School, Brooklyn, New York. He professed his Passionist vows on August 15, 1947 and was ordained on February 27, 1953. He did post-graduate studies at The Catholic University of America. For eleven years he served as librarian, teacher and director of the high school seminary. Prior to that he was a member of the provincial staff as mission procurator, archivist, and assistant treasurer. He presented conferences on religious life to women and often celebrated liturgy for the Dominican Nuns at the Blue Chapel, Union City, New Jersey. He served as librarian for the diocesan seminaries at Huntington, Long Island, New York and Dunwoodie, New York as well as the Episcopalian Seminary on Long Island. He did library work at Queens College, and the New Jersey prison system as well as the Passionist Monastic Library in Jamaica, New York. On his day off he went to the Xavier Institute to the Blind in New York City to record books.
