Born Richard J. Gepp on August 3, 1918 in Jersey City, New Jersey, he studied at the Passionist Preparatory Seminary, Dunkirk, New York. In 1938 he went to the Passionist novitiate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and professed his vows on August 15, 1939. His Novice Master was Father Berchman Lanagan, C.P. Gepp’s class was the first class to go to Pittsburgh in the newly re-opened Pittsburgh novitiate. He was ordained to the priesthood on April 29, 1946 at St. Michael’s Monastery Church, Union City, New Jersey. For many years Father Gepp was a member of the Passionist Mission Preaching Apostolate. For many years toward the end of his life he lived at the Passionist Spiritual Center, North Palm Beach, Florida where he died on September 21, 1991.
