Born on May 22, 1919 in Weston, Nebraska he was professed on July 10, 1939 and was ordained on June 30, 1945. After ordination he worked in the United States and then volunteered for China but had to leave when the Communists came to power. From 1947 until 1949 Father Placek was a Vice-Master and Director of Students. From 1959 to 1984 he was in Japan at Ikeda, Mefu and Fukoa. He was a pastor, regional treasurer and regional superior. In 1986 Father Placek went to the Philippines and did retreat work in Sun Valley, Parañaque for seven years. In June 1993 he was assigned as co-formator of novices and served as a hospital chaplain in General Santos City. He died in the Philippines.
