Born Charles Francis Walsh in Westchester, New York on December 12, 1887 he was the son of Charles Walsh and Mary Taylor. His parents died when he was very young and he was raised by his aunt, Miss Margaret Walsh. As a youth he attended the Academy of St. Aloysius which was run by the Domincan Sisters in Caldwell, New Jersey. It was there that he met the Passionists. In the summer of 1903 he entered the Passionist Preparatory school located at Dunkirk, New York. In Jun 1905 he was sent to the Passionist novitiate in Pittsburgh were he received the name Seraphim and on July 8, 1906 professed his vows. He was ordained a priest on December 21, 1912 at St. Michael’s Monastery Church, West Hoboken, New Jersey. Illness consumed the greater portion of his priestly ministry. He died in a private sanitarium in Liberty, New York.
