Born Joseph De Luca on August 29, 1906, he professed his vows on September 12, 1926 and was ordained May 22, 1932. He was a popular preacher in Italian and English. He had tuberculosis in his early years and spent three years in a sanitarium. He worked in Rome as a translator of documentation from Italian to English. He also loved to give lectures on the space program in the United States. He was diagnosed with cancer in the last years of his life. He died while at Sierra Madre, California.
