Born December 28, 1897 Leo McCaffrey in Brighton, Massachusetts he was the son of Mary Barnard and Charles McCaffrey. He was educated at St. Leo’s parochial school in Dorchester and then matriculated at Boston College. During that time he would visit the Passionist foundation at Brighton and serve Mass. Leo entered the Passionist Preparatory College in 1916. On September 17, 1918 he was professed and received the religious name Victor. He was ordained a priest on June 14, 1924 at St. Michael’s Church, West Hoboken, New Jersey. During his ministry he was often sick. Still for a short time he served as a director of students.
