Fr. Rob Carbonneau, C.P. receives Affiliate Fellowship
Province historian, Rob Carbonneau, has received an Affiliate Fellowship at the Center for Study of American Religion, Princeton University. This is a competitive fellowship and is given to young scholars to study issues dealing with developments of religion in the United States. The title of Rob’s project is:
Religion and Public Policy: The Events Leading to the Release of Bishop Cuthbert O’Gara, C.P., D.D.,from China and to the Development of the Catholic China Lobby in the United States, 1951-1968.
While no funding is available from Princeton, Rob is able to use all the facilities and libraries and will be a regular participant in the Friday Center seminar. Rob is interested in presenting drafts of this information to any groups, organizations or schools and would be particularly interested in contacting groups or organizations which might assist him in funding a full-length biography of Bishop Cuthbert O’Gara.
At present Rob is working as Associate Program Coordinator at the U.S. Catholic China Bureau located at Seton Hall University. He will continue to reside at the Passionist Community in Riverdale.
